General FAQ :

Q: Do I have to switch on my receiver before the activation?
A: Yes, the receiver needs to be switched on and tracking the appropriate OmniSTAR satelite before the activation to be done over the OmniSTAR Satellite link.

Q: I did not receive the activation!
A: The technical helpdesk shall ask you the following questions :

    * Is your receiver switched on?
    * Is it locked onto the CORRECT OmniSTAR Satellite? Check the settings!
    * Can you look up the "User Code" in the menu?
    * Is your receiver receiving GPS signals? If not then this indicates that the antenna or cabling is faulty or disconnected.

Q: Can I use my receiver with OmniSTAR corrections on my boat?
A: No, you can use Omnistar only on land!

Q: I saw on the screen of my receiver that it received a message from OmniSTAR , the screen was blinking and I had to press enter. After I did that there was still no differential?
A: That is right. You have to be patient. The receiver will only start working correctly once it has downloaded a current OmniSTAR almanac, site table and time stamp. This can take up to 45 minutes - but usually within 15 minutes of UNINTERRUPTED reception of the OmniSTAR service.

Q: Am I using the best Satellite service for the geographic area where I'm working?
A: You have 2 possibilities. Either call OmniSTAR and give your location and they will tell you which Satellite service you should use, or go to the website www.surveyplanner.com.

Q: What is the frequency of the OmniSTAR Satellite?

A: It is no need to know because if you select the service name the right frequency is automatically set. But for your information click here to see the service name and frequency.

Q: How can I switch from one satellite to another?
A: Click here to display the configuration procedures.

Q: Sometimes my receiver loses differential. Why is that?

A: Make sure there is no obstruction between the satellite and the antenna. A tree with a lot of leaves or a building can block the signal.
